Victim Loses $35K in Cryptocurrency Scam, Police Investigate

A South Bruce resident lost $35,000 in a cryptocurrency scam, police confirmed on February 4. The victim was targeted by an online crypto company, which they found through an ad. After a year of sending funds, the victim became suspicious and stopped. Soon after, they were locked out of their account.

According to police, the victim initially found an online ad for the company and decided to invest. Over the course of a year, they transferred a total of $35,000 to the company. However, after growing concerns about the company’s legitimacy, the victim stopped sending funds. Shortly afterward, they found themselves locked out of their account, unable to access their funds.

South Bruce OPP is currently investigating the incident. They are urging residents to be vigilant when engaging in cryptocurrency transactions. Scams involving digital currencies have become more common, and it’s important to verify the legitimacy of any online investment opportunity.

Police continue to advise people to exercise caution when dealing with cryptocurrency investments. It’s important to carefully research any company or platform before sending funds, especially when they come across ads or promotions that seem too good to be true.
